Assessment Tools PDF Print E-mail

INFORMAL ASSESSMENT TOOLS:

These assessments are done as part of the referral process by the staff in the Learning Support Center. Once a referral has been made by the classroom teacher and observations and collection of student information has been done, the next step is to complete informal assessments for each student. These provide a baseline for student ability and highlight areas of focus for the student when outlining their learning program in the Learning Support Center.

Informal Assessment Tools that are currently used in the Learning Support Center are:

1. WADE - Wilson Assessment of Decoding and Encoding:

The WADE is adminstered prior to instruction in the Wilson Reading System. It can be used for pretesting and posttesting purposes as well as a placement and pacing guide for the Wilson Reading System.

2. WRAT - Wide Range Achievement Test:

The WRAT3 is used to measure the codes which are needed to learn the basic skills of reading, spelling, and arithemetic.

3. KTEA - Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement:

The KTEA-II is an individually admistered measure of academic achievement that accesses the achievement domains of reading, mathematics, and written language.

4. KBIT - Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test:

The KBIT-2 is a brief, individually administered measure of the verbal and nonverbal intelligence of a wide range of children, adolescents and adults from 4-90 years.
